Aprenda a Programar con Lazarus

Autor: David Arboledas Brihuega

The Rich Man and Lazarus on the Reformation Stage

Autor: Stephen L. Wailes

Número de Páginas: 372

"The Rich Man and Lazarus," one of Jesus' best known parables, has been the subject of discussion and interpretation from the Church Fathers to the present day. Ten plays written in German during the sixteenth century dramatize this parable. Despite the fact that the parable and these plays are concerned with wealth and poverty, damnation and salvation - ideas that are at the very center of the social turmoil and theological struggles of the Reformation - the plays are virtually unknown, in part because six of the ten have not been reprinted or edited since they appeared between 1550 and 1579.

American Lazarus

Autor: Joanna Brooks

Número de Páginas: 264

The 1780s and 1790s were a critical era for communities of color in the new United States of America. Even Thomas Jefferson observed that in the aftermath of the American Revolution, "the spirit of the master is abating, that of the slave rising from the dust." This book explores the means by which the very first Black and Indian authors rose up to transform their communities and the course of American literary history. It argues that the origins of modern African-American and American Indian literatures emerged at the revolutionary crossroads of religion and racial formation as early Black and Indian authors reinvented American evangelicalism and created new postslavery communities, new categories of racial identification, and new literary traditions. While shedding fresh light on the pioneering figures of African-American and Native American cultural history--including Samson Occom, Prince Hall, Richard Allen, Absalom Jones, and John Marrant--this work also explores a powerful set of little-known Black and Indian sermons, narratives, journals, and hymns. Chronicling the early American communities of color from the separatist Christian Indian settlement in upstate New York to the ...

Fifty Years of the Research and theory of R.s. Lazarus

Autor: Richard S. Lazarus

Número de Páginas: 451

A collection of the articles written by the author throughout his extensive career, this book achieves three goals. First, it reprints selected research and theory papers on stress and coping from the 1950s to the present produced by Lazarus under five rubrics: his dissertation; perennial epistemological issues including the revolt of the 1940s and 1950s; his transition from laboratory to field research; the clinical applications of stress and coping; and expanding stress to the emotions. Second, it provides a running commentary on the origination of the issues discussed, what was occurring in psychology when the work was done, and where the work led in the present. Third, it integrates various themes about which psychologists debate vociferously, often without recognizing the intellectual bases of these differences.

The Lazarus Effect

Autor: Roderick L. Evans

Número de Páginas: 15

In biology, the Lazarus Effect refers to species and other organisms that appeared in one time period and then disappeared; only to reappear at a later period of time. Biologists were amazed at how a species could be alive and well at a certain time and then seemingly go extinct. Then, this "extinct" species somehow comes back to life and reproduces. Biologists used the term Lazarus Effect based upon the New Testament account of Jesus miraculously raising His friend Lazarus from the dead. In the fourth book of the Restoration & Recovery Series, we will continue to examine the failures and ultimate successes of biblical characters. Learn how you can experience a Lazarus Effect in your personal life. Book 4 of 4.

The Lazarus Story within the Johannine Tradition

Autor: Wendy E. S. North

Número de Páginas: 184

This historical-critical study of the Gospel of John and the First Epistle of John challenges the commonly held view that the first Johannine epistle is related to the Gospel. Sproston argues that the two writings are indirectly related through a common Johannine tradition. A comparison of the two therefore allows traditional material in the evangelist's work to be isolated, enhancing our understanding of the creative processes involved in its composition. The account of the raising of Lazarus is rigorously analysed as a test case for this kind of analysis.
