Elogio a Mishima y a Majakovskij

Elogio a Mishima y a Majakovskij

Autor: Valerio Carbone; Flavio Carlini

Majakovskij

Majakovskij

Autor: Bengt Jangfeldt

Contexts, Subtexts and Pretexts

Contexts, Subtexts and Pretexts

Autor: Brian James Baer

Número de Páginas: 349

This volume presents Eastern Europe and Russia as a distinctive translation zone, despite significant internal differences in language, religion and history. The persistence of large multilingual empires, which produced bilingual and even polyglot readers, the shared experience of "belated modernity and the longstanding practice of repressive censorship produced an incredibly vibrant, profoundly politicized, and highly visible culture of translation throughout the region as a whole. The individual contributors to this volume examine diverse manifestations of this shared translation culture from the Romantic Age to the present day, revealing literary translation to be at times an embarrassing reminder of the region s cultural marginalization and reliance on the West and at other times a mode of resistance and a metaphor for cultural supercession. This volume demonstrates the relevance of this region to the current scholarship on alternative translation traditions and exposes some of the Western assumptions that have left the region underrepresented in the field of Translation Studies."

The Poetic World of Boris Pasternak

The Poetic World of Boris Pasternak

Autor: Olga Raevsky Hughes

Número de Páginas: 208

The dramatic political struggle of Boris Pasternak and the continued success of his novel. Dr. Zhivago, have often taken center stage in discussions of this writer. Olga Raevsky Hughes chooses instead to focus on the aesthetics underlying Pasternak's snuggles and successes to explore the ways in which his views of art and the artist were applied in his writings. Professor Hughes examines those aspects of Pasternak's views on art that he himself considered crucial: the beginnings of poetry in his life, the relation of his art to life, his relationship to his time, and his responsibility to lite and to society. Pasternak's views on art are analyzed as he himself saw them in his autobiographies, critical essays, and letters; and also as they were reflected in his work. Pasternak is allowed to speak for himself: accordingly, all of his published works are used, including letters, little-known works, and available variants of his early poems. Originally published in 1975. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the...

Les Avant-gardes littéraires au XXe siècle

Les Avant-gardes littéraires au XXe siècle

Autor: Jean Weisgerber

My Futurist Years

My Futurist Years

Número de Páginas: 430

"My Futurist Years is one of the most important reflections on the Russian Futurist movement and a cornerstone in the career of one of the century's greatest linguistic and literary thinkers ... Along with the quite moving recollections of his friendships with such Modernist figures as Majakovskij, Xlebnikov, and Malevich, the book includes Jakobson's letters to other Futurists active in the scene and to his close friend Elsa Brik, later to gain notoriety as the French writer Elsa Triolet and wife of the poet Louis Aragon."-back cover.

Majakovskij;

Majakovskij;

Autor: Vladimir Mayakovsky
