Seta's Fall

Autor: Crystal-rain Love

Número de Páginas: 157

The Blood Revelation Prophecy: Vampires, witches, and shifters will band together to stop the darkness from winning, until one warrior is born to save the world from Satan's wrath. Before she was the baddest vampire-witch to ever walk the dark streets of America, she was a young Spanish servant in Rome, unaware of her own power. Seduced by Count Roberto Garibaldi and having been promised to wed, Seta gives birth to his son only to find out too late that she had been used to produce the heir his barren wife could not. The count steals the child out of her arms and throws her off the cliff just beyond his castle, but Seta’s fall does not lead to death. A guardian has been sent to save her by giving her a second life, a life hidden in shadow, separated from her only child. Seta must suffer the estrangement from her son until he is old enough to be reunited with her and revenge can be taken upon those who stole him, and she must wrestle with the attraction she has to her sire, a vampire who gave her a new life, but could easily take it away.

Dictionary of Insect Morphology

Número de Páginas: 412

The renowned German reference work The Handbuch der Zoologie/Handbook of Zoology was founded in the 1920's by Professor Willi Kükenthal in Berlin and treated the complete animal kingdom from single cell organisms to mammals in eight thematic volumes: Volume I Protozoa, Porifera, Colenteratea, Mesozoa (1925); Volume II Worms (1933/34); Volume III Arthropoda ex. Insecta (1927/1932); Volume IV Arthopoda: Insecta; Volume V Solenogastres, Mollusca, Echinoderma (1925); Volume VI Pisces / Amphibia (1930); Volume VII Reptilia / Aves (1931); Volume VIII Mammalia. The Volumes Insecta (Eds. N.P. Kristensen, R.G. Beutel) and Mammalia (Eds. M.S. Fischer, H. Schliemann) continued publication into the present with the most recent contributions in English language. Covering nearly 100 years of zoological research, the Handbook of Zoology represents a vast store of knowledge. But with the speed of scientific discovery in the past decades, a new edition of the Handbook in a new form is required. Beginning in 2010 the Handbook of Zoology will be restructured and offered additionally as a database (Zoology Online) which can be easily searched and rapidly updated. The eight thematic volumes will be...

Composition and Nature of the Culicidae (Mosquitoes)

Autor: Ralph E. Harbach

Número de Páginas: 572

This landmark volume is a unique, comprehensive compendium of all the biosystematics information on mosquitoes available today. Its purpose is to provide the international community with an up-to-date authoritative resource on the taxonomy and systematics of the entire family of this crucially important group of insects. The book exhaustively summarizes the large and varied taxonomic literature on mosquitoes, providing a useful and practical amalgamation of their nomenclatural history, classification, morphology, bionomics and evolution. The need for this volume coincides with the growing paucity of professional traditional taxonomists who are still available to assist and advise the new generation of molecular biologists in the principles and practice of zoological nomenclature, morphotaxonomy and classification. For this reason, the compilation is an invaluable resource for students, researchers, entomologists, librarians and anyone interested in the taxa that comprise the family Culicidae. It is no exaggeration to state that this book is a monumental piece of work. It treats and provides detailed information for all formal and informal elements of hierarchical classification,...

Insecta Diptera Culicidae Uranotaenia

Forensic Entomology

Autor: Jason H. Byrd , James L. Castner

Número de Páginas: 708

The first edition of Forensic Entomology: The Utility of Arthropods in Legal Investigations broke ground on all levels, from the caliber of information provided to the inclusion of copious color photographs. With over 100 additional color photographs, an expanded reference appendix, and updated information, the second edition has raised the bar for resources in this field, elucidating the basics on insects of forensic importance. New in the Second Edition: A chapter on insect identification that presents dichotomous keys Updates on DNA molecular techniques and genetic markers Coverage of new standardization in forensic entomological analysis Chapters on climatology and thermoregulation in insects 100 new color photographs, making available a total of 650 color photographs Goes Beyond Dramatics to the Nitty Gritty of Real Practice While many books, movies, and television shows have made forensic entomology popular, this book makes it real. Going beyond dramatics to the nitty gritty of actual practice, it covers what to search for when recovering entomological evidence, how to handle items found at the crime scene, and how to use entomological knowledge in legal investigations.

Soil Biology Guide

Autor: Daniel L. Dindal

Número de Páginas: 1381

A comprehensive study of the biology, taxonomy, and ecology of each of the soil biotic groups. The first chapter presents an ecological approach to soil studies. The remaining 42 chapters provide specific information on each of the taxonomic groupings. Contains illustrated identification keys to each group. Some keys go by functional morphological delineations; others lead the reader to classical identification at family, genus, or species levels. Some incorporate descriptions of new genera and species. Especially useful for the study of mesic, xeric, and hydric terrestrial sites. Includes an extensive bibliography.

Autor: Виктор Алексеев

Número de Páginas: 203

The monograph is the 28th volume of the series of guides “Identification guides to the plankton and benthos of inland waters”, published under the editorship of Henri Dumont. The monograph contains a revision of the subfamily Eucyclopinae Kiefer, 1927 and descriptions of three genera: Eucyclops Claus, 1893, Stygocyclops Plesa, 1971 and Isocyclops Kiefer, 1957. The genus Eucyclops, one of the largest among the cyclopid, after the revision includes 112 valid taxa, including 92 species. The systematic part is preceded by a detailed description of the external morphology of representatives of these genera based on the type species for the subfamily, Eucyclops serrulatus (Fischer, 1851). Morphological descriptions and illustrations of the most important, taxonomically significant structures of the external structure of each taxon are given. The genus Eucyclops is subdivided into 9 subgenera, and keys for subgenera, species, and subspecies are provided. The monotypic genus Stygocyclops, with a single species, S. terns (Graeter, 1907), and the small genus Isocyclops, with two species, are described in the same way. The monograph is illustrated with 119 figures, has an index of Tatin...
